Nigerians raise $17,692 To Help Family Of Hero Cop Iboko

Through unity and empathy, 451 contributors have now raised $17,692 to help the family of Sergeant Chukwudi Iboko who was killed when a gang of four armed robbers stormed Zenith Bank Owerri in Imo State on February 22, 2017.

The initial target of the appeal fund was $15,000 but through the collective and overwhelming love from Nigerians irrespective of ethnicity, as at 9am today 13th June, the contribution has exceeded that goal by over $2,600.
Among the contributors are people from East, West, North and South even with the current tension in Nigeria.

Late sergeant Iboko who has also been approved for post-humous promotion was killed alongside another policeman. He left behind 7 children but one of his kids (aged 5) slumped and died when he saw the corpse of his father on the burial day.

Punch Nigeria opened the GoFundMe account for to raise money for the family of Iboko to be taken care of because Zenith Bank and the Nigerian Police had done little or nothing for the family since the death of the bread winner of the family.

Attention was drawn to the family of the deceased and other victims recently when a CCTV footage of the robbery incident surfaced online. Although there was only one policeman seen in the video, there were three at the bank and all of them were shot by the gun happy hoodlums, one of which was gunned down.
ImoNigeriaNews gathered that the only survivor is still receiving treatment. He lost one eye in the battle.
